Lake Okechobee

It's Jeff's birthday today and he wanted to choose what to do today. A huge thunderstorm went through Fort Myers last night and the wind is still blowing today, so Jeff wanted to head inland and go see Lake Okechobee. When we look on the map, it looks like it should be a huge lake and I know that it is. When we arrived at our destination this is what we found. It looks more like a slough than a lake. I'm sure that somewhere out there is a lot of water, but this is definitely not what either of us was expecting. Needless to say, we were a little bit disappointed. It was a nice drive over though, and we got to see a lot of country.

We drove back to Fort Myers and went tot he driving range to hit a couple of buckets of golf balls, then went to check out this golf course. It's a beauty. The pro in the shop said that there is an alligator on hole three that is hibernating for the winter. He will show up to sun himself on a really warm day. The water moccasins are pretty much gone now though, as all of the osprey have taken care of them for the time being. Not sure that's a place that I want to golf. We'll have to see. I need a few more times at the driving range first.
